A specialist drinks distributor is set to enhance its warehouse capacity and support for independent producers after receiving a £13,000 grant from Walsall Business Support.
The Liquorman, founded five years ago with a mission to champion small-scale drinks makers, has become known for its portfolio of premium wines, beers, and spirits, many sourced from family-run and sustainability-focused producers.
The grant is enabling The Liquorman to build a bespoke mezzanine structure in its warehouse, a vital investment to accommodate its diverse and growing wine portfolio. With over 170 wines from 15 countries, the company needed a tailored solution to improve storage capacity and stock flow, and the grant has made this possible.
Maria Hunter, Director at The Liquorman said: “We were introduced to Walsall Business Support through Walsall Council, who highlighted the programme as a great opportunity for local businesses looking to invest in infrastructure and growth. The process of applying for a grant was seamless, and we received helpful feedback and guidance at every stage. It felt like a genuine partnership, which made the experience both efficient and encouraging.
“We’re using the grant to build a custom mezzanine floor in our warehouse, with installation already booked for early October. This will significantly improve our stock flow and storage efficiency, allowing us to manage our growing portfolio more effectively and fulfil orders faster. It’s a vital step in scaling our operations while maintaining the high standards our partners expect.”
Led by leading business figures to distribute funds collected from the legacy of Walsall Chamber of Commerce, Walsall Business Support funds projects to enhance the borough’s economy.
Rob Colbourne, Director of Walsall Business Support, said: “We are delighted to support The Liquorman as they invest in their infrastructure and continue to champion independent producers. Their commitment to quality, community and sustainability is a great example of the values that drive Walsall’s business community. We look forward to seeing their growth and positive impact on the local economy.”
The Liquorman sells exclusively to independent retailers, hospitality venues and specialist shops who share their commitment to authenticity and craft. Their long-term goal is to boost local economies by empowering independent producers and retailers, expanding their reach and setting a new standard for ethical, sustainable business in the drinks industry.
